Launched in 2009 by Leandra Ashton, Flying Cloud is now a successful collective of international artists produced by Turtle Key Arts. Leandra has been joined at the helm by Jennifer Kidd and Marta Isabella Rizi and it’s all hands on deck as they map unchartered waters.
Leandra nails her colours to the mast and navigates Flying Cloud through the high seas of creativity. Born a land lubber in Kuwait, she grew up in Yorkshire and the North East. She trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art after studying for a BA in Modern and Medieval Languages. She has lived and worked in Spain, Italy and across the UK and USA.
She loves treading the boards, and has taken various leading roles on stages around the world including at The National Theatre, Off Broadway New York, Teatro Ghione Rome, Sheffield Crucible and The Arcola London. She made her directing debut with NAPOLI (West Yorkshire Playhouse and tour) and enjoys designing and delivering ground-breaking workshops for businesses, community groups, schools and universities.
Ship shape, Bristol fashion is Jennifer’s approach when it comes to community workshops. She spear heads Flying Cloud’s pioneering outreach programmes. She grew up in Ireland and Wales before training at RADA. As an actor, Jennifer has performed with acclaimed companies such as Shakespeare’s Globe and Cheek by Jowl, appearing in leading roles across Europe and the USA including in London, Paris and New York.
Jennifer has led and collaborated on a number of independent projects such as Larisa and The Merchants with Insite Performance and The Only Girl in the World (Best Off-West End Production of the Year, Time Out).
